With this series of simple, yet elegant and playful gestures and through a meticulously conceptual working approach as well as a love of working site specifically, Esther Mathis effortlessly brings to light a reading a space or a situation through the study of light. The artist’s subtle transformations shed light on and unravel the the complexities and possibilities that are not obvious or not directly visible. The contrasting use of natural light against found architectural elements - whether a blind, window glass or aluminium honeycomb - hints on the vast and at times hidden possibilities these elements hold in themselves and brings our attention to the seemingly commonplace situations that often escape our gaze. One need only look carefully.
